8U & MINORS BASEBALL/SOFTBALL
In a greater effort to try and even out the teams as much as possible, we will be having a team placement day for both Softball and Baseball players for the 8u and Minor divisions. Our goal for this event is to have the kids run through some drills (see below FAQ) so we can better gauge the skill levels in all kids, with the hopes of being able to have all the overall team skills sets as close to each other as possible. Like years past we will try and honor all player/coach requests but please keep in mind not all kids will end up with the coach/other players they requested. All siblings will still be on the same team if playing in the same division.
KEY POINT:
This is NOT a tryout. All kids will still be on a team like in the past even if you can not make the event. Our goal is to try and have a few fun drills for the kids to run through and that's all.
MAJORS: Returning players DO NOT have to try out again. ONLY 1st year major players need to try out.

What is team placement day?
It is a chance for the league to see all the participants and try to better distribute the teams.
What if I can't make it?
Even though we really would like you to come, we understand things happen. You will still be placed on a team regardless if you attend the event or not.
Is this a Try Out?
NO all kids will make a team no matter what.
What drills will the kids be doing?
The kids will play catch, receive a couple of ground balls, and a couple of fly balls, and will hit off a pitching machine in a batting cage.
What equipment should we bring?
Glove, bat, and a helmet (Girls should also have a fielder's mask). If you do not have a bat or helmet we will have enough for the kids to use. Have the kids dress in athletic clothes and tennis shoes. PLEASE NO CLEATS, WE ARE HAVING THIS IN THE St. Clair High School GYM
Why are we doing this?
Most other leagues do go through this process and we hope to be able to have all the overall team skills sets as close to each other as possible. This isn't a perfect system, we know that but after teammate and coach requirements, we try our best to make them as close as possible.
How soon after our drills day will I be called and told what team I am on?
It will still be about a week or two until you are notified by email which team you are on, just like in years past. It does take some time to put the teams together. The kids will not be separated by skill or drafted to a team while in the gym. The coaches will make notes and do this at a later time.
What is beginner's day?
Do you ever wish on your 1st day at a new job you could start with a bunch of other people who are also there for their 1st day? That's what Beginner's Day is. It's designed for kids new to a sport or who may not feel as confident as their peers. Our aim is to help these kids become more familiar with the drills and terminology they'll need on the field, in a fun and relaxed environment. The event will cover the basics so everyone can learn, and it's a great opportunity for the kids to understand how to use the strange leather object they'll be holding in their hands on the field lol. Parents come ready to participate you will be asked to join in with your kiddos.
If your older children who have some experience under their belt want to come and help please consider doing so. If you want to participate either as a player or a volunteer please use this signup sheet to help us better gauge interest.
